On Dec. 3, First Baptist Church Tomball held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new campus, which will be located on 32 acres near the church’s pavilion at 29519 Quinn Road.

In a nutshell

According to the church’s website, First Baptist Church purchased the land in 2003. Phase 1 of construction will include building:

  • A 400-seat worship center
  • A lobby/gathering area
  • A kid’s hallway with classrooms
  • A youth room
  • Four classrooms for adult Sunday school, ministers' offices and small-group meetings

The cost estimate for Phase 1 is $8.9 million-$9.6 million, according to the church’s website.

What else?

First Baptist Church leases its property in Old Town Tomball from the Tomball Economic Development Corp., as the TEDC bought it for $4.59 million in April, Community Impact previously reported.

Initiating the planning process for the First Baptist Church property is in the TEDC’s 2023-24 strategic plan, according to prior reporting.

Quote of note

“It’s an exciting new day as we move out to this property and we look towards the future expansion of the church,” Lead Pastor James Clark said during the groundbreaking ceremony. “And we look forward to what ultimately the city has in store for the old property.”
