The new playground at Tomball’s Matheson Park was officially completed April 3, Tomball Public Works Director Drew Huffman said via email April 5.

“The new playground is comparable to the old playground as it is wood construction with many different play components,” Huffman said. “The new playground still has features for all ages and abilities, including a zip line, swings, climbing structures, slides, play houses, train and obstacle course to just to name a few.”

The construction of the playground took nine weeks and cost $661,729.26, Huffman said.

Huffman also said the city is in the process of finalizing bids for the remainder of the Matheson Park renovations, which include a splash pad, pickleball courts, a loop trail and lighting.

“We really appreciate all the support from our City Council and residents for this project,” Huffman said. “People are already out enjoying the playground, and it is exciting to see so much enjoyment in our parks.”

Huffman said he expects all of the Matheson Park renovations to be completed by the end of the year.
