Construction has begun at Sorella, a 238-acre development along FM 2920 near Mueschke Road that will include 838 homesites, according to a Sept. 10 press release from the community. Sorella will include 40- and 50-foot homesites as well as half acre lots surrounding a community lake, the release said.

The community is being jointly developed by M/I Homes and Johnson Development Services. Model homes and inventory homes are expected to be available in spring 2023, according to the release.

“This is a fast-growing area with excellent access to major thoroughfares, including the Grand Parkway and Hwy. 249,” Johnson Development Services President Michael Cox said in the release. “Sorella will offer a laid-back lifestyle without sacrificing easy access to everyday conveniences.”

M/I Homes will build upon 433 of the homesites, with homes starting in the $200,000s. M/I Homes is the homebuilder for a number of communities in the Houston area, including Magnolia Ridge in Magnolia and Bridgeland in Cypress.

M/I Homes will be offering a variety of home plans as part of its Smart Series, the release said.

“The Smart Series is extremely nimble, with multiple structural customizations so buyers can add bedrooms, media rooms, additional outdoor living space and more,” said Jay McManus, Houston Division President for M/I Homes, in the release. “And by offering professionally curated design packages, we’re able to keep home prices more affordable.”

Johnson Development Services will sell its 405 homesites to Beazer Homes and Newmark Homes, the release said. Beazer Homes has also built homes across Houston, including in Timber Hollow in Magnolia and Bridgeland. Newmark Homes is also a homebuilder in Bridgeland.

Sorella will include a resort-style pool, an open-air pavilion, an event lawn, lakeside walking trails and multiple playgrounds, the release said. Students in the community will attend Waller ISD schools.
