The Texas State Highway 249 Extension project team announced Friday that temporary traffic signals will be implemented on Monday, Aug. 20, in construction zones on FM 1488 and FM 1486 in Magnolia.

Traffic signals were installed Aug. 4 with a flashing caution signal. The new signals will become fully operational on Aug. 20 to direct construction traffic crossing FM 1488 and FM 1486 at the intersection of the future Hwy. 249 extension in Magnolia, which is under construction by Texas Department of Transportation crews.

The four-way traffic signal will halt traffic as needed to allow construction vehicles to enter and exit the construction sites, officials said.

Drivers are encouraged to heed road signage, abide by the speed limits and use caution when traveling in these areas, officials said.
