3 ongoing road projects to follow in Tomball, Magnolia

  1. The Texas Department of Transportation and toll road authorities in Harris and Montgomery counties are extending the tolled portion of Hwy. 249 north from FM 2920 in Tomball to Hwy. 105 in Navasota. Construction is slated to begin on the Montgomery County Toll Road Authority’s portion in April. The four-phase project will total more than $662 million.
    Estimated timeline: February 2017-summer 2020
  2. TxDOT is constructing an FM 1774 overpass at FM 1488, which will provide drivers a direct route over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Magnolia. The $18.5 million project was 58 percent complete as of early February.
    Estimated timeline: December 2016-third quarter 2019
  3. TxDOT crews are widening a 2.8-mile stretch of FM 1774 between West Lost Creek Boulevard and FM 149 in Pinehurst from two to four lanes with a center turn lane. The $18.5 million project was nearly halfway complete as of early February.
    Estimated timeline: July 2016-third quarter 2018
