The U.S. Census Bureau released the latest 2018 American Community Survey five-year estimates Dec. 19.

Census data shows Tomball ZIP codes 77375 and 77377 saw total population increase by 17,091 residents from 2013 estimates to 2018 estimates. Median home value, monthly housing costs and household income have also increased in each ZIP code from 2013-18, according to census data.

The population in ZIP code 77375 increased 25.92% from 2013 to 2018, totaling nearly 53,000 residents, according to 2018 estimates. Likewise, the population in ZIP code 77377 increased 20.22% from 2013 to 2018, totaling just over 37,000 residents, according to 2018 estimates.

The percent of residents age 25 and older who have obtained a bachelor's degree dropped slightly in ZIP code 77377, from 44.7% in 2013 to 42.9% in 2018. However, ZIP code 77375 saw the percent of residents with a bachelor's degree increase, from 28.8% in 2013 to 33.4% in 2018.


Data also shows the median age for residents in both ZIP codes increased from 2013 to 2018, with the median age in ZIP code 77377 rising by more than three years.


The median annual household income in each Tomball-area ZIP code has also increased since 2013, census data shows.


Housing costs have also increased in each ZIP code. The median monthly housing cost for residents with a mortgage increased by 4.71% from 2013 to 2018 in ZIP code 77375 and by 8.33% in ZIP code 77377 during that time. Monthly housing costs for residents paying rent, however, increased by 19% and by 52.81% in ZIP codes 77375 and 77377, respectively. In ZIP code 77375, median monthly rent costs were higher than in ZIP code 77377 in 2013, data shows. However, in 2018, median monthly rent costs are almost $300 more in ZIP code 77377 than in ZIP code 77375, data shows.


As monthly housing costs have increased, so too have median home values in both ZIP codes. From 2013 to 2018, the median home value increased by 24.14% and by 32.12% in ZIP codes 77375 and 77377, respectively.
