1. Morning Star Builders showcases a home by Southern Living Custom Builder Program in Bluejack National, a resort-style community in Montgomery, built on Tiger Woods’ first golf course. 2. The Texas Renaissance Festival kicks off its 2017 festival Saturday, Sept. 30. The nine-weekend event offers Renaissance-themed live entertainment across more than 20 stages as well as more than 400 shops offering medieval goods. The festival runs through Nov. 26, and each weekend features a different theme for guests to participate in. $30 (adult admission at the gate), $15 (child admission at the gate). 3. Salem Lutheran Church opens its 5-acre corn maze with a Texas-themed design on Saturday, Sept. 30. The maze features games and a labyrinth section. The event also features a pumpkin patch, hayrides and yard games. 10 a.m.-7 p.m. (Saturdays), noon-7 p.m. (Sundays). 4. The City of Tomball hosts Beetles, Brew and Barbecue, a Texas version of Octoberfest, on Saturday, Sept. 30. A Volkswagen car show begins at 9 a.m featuring more than 100 classic Beetles. The festival begins at 11 a.m. featuring several Texas craft breweries, barbecue, music, food and craft vendors and a kids zone. 6. Beginning Sunday, Oct. 1, more than 85 scarecrows and piles of pumpkins will cover the Oil Ranch in Hockley for its fall festival. The ranch offers hay rides, scarecrow scenes and thousands of pumpkins as well as the regular ranch activities available. Every child gets a free pumpkin with paid admission. The festival occurs throughout the entire month of October.
