Tomball City Council approved a resolution Oct. 18 to begin the process of annexing a 240-acre plot of land at Hwy. 249 and Rocky Road west of the Hwy. 249 and Grand Parkway interchange. The city agreed to enter negotiations with Lovett Industrial to develop the property at its Sept. 7 meeting, Community Impact Newspaper previously reported.
One of the provisions of the negotiations was that the city would annex the tract of land, which is currently within the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, to extend city services into the development.
The resolution sets the dates for reading and public hearing of the proposed annexation. The first reading and public hearing, which will be conducted at the Tomball City Council chambers at 401 Market St., will be Nov. 15 and the second reading and approval will take place Dec. 8.
The development would include 90,960 square foot for retail facilities and 3.4 million-square-feet of light industrial warehouse space, according to the agenda packet. It would employ approximately 1,200 people.
