What we reported: Harris County voters approved a $2.5 billion bond referendum in August to fund Harris County Flood Control District projects through 2035. The referendum is funded by property tax revenue and includes matching funds necessary to receive additional federal funds for projects.

The latest: Harris County Commissioners Court authorized HCFCD to proceed with design and construction Dec. 18 of an expanded detention basin at Zube Park as well as of a 217-million-gallon basin near Kleb Woods Nature Preserve and a 251-million-gallon basin near Bauer-Hockley Road, according to HCFCD information. In Tomball improvements to M124, a drainage channel near FM 2920 flowing to Willow Creek, are set to begin in 2019. County commissioners approved an agreement Nov. 13 for a preliminary engineering report for the channel.
