The Tomball Police Department announced on its Facebook page Tuesday afternoon that National Night Out festivities have been canceled for Tuesday night due to weather. However, community members can contact the police department to have an officer visit their neighborhood.

The Tomball Police Department celebrates National Night Out 2018 with family friendly activities Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Tomball Historic Depot Plaza from 6-8 p.m., according to a post on the Tomball Police Department's Facebook page.

The event, celebrated around the nation, is an annual community-building campaign sponsored by The National Association of Town Watch to promote partnerships between law enforcement and community members, according to The National Association of Town Watch.

Tuesday's event includes the Tomball Police Department, Tomball Fire Department, Northwest Emergency Medical Services, Tomball Public Works and local H-E-B representatives and vendors. Food, children's activities, entertainment and interactive displays are slated.
