The Tomball City Council held a regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 5. Here are four things to know about the meeting.

1. Mayor Gretchen Fagan recognized Pastor Hirma Gomez of Templo La Hermosa Church, acknowledging her service to the Tomball community and 50 years of ministry. The mayor proclaimed Sept. 5 as Pastor Hirma Gomez 50th Anniversary Appreciation Day.

2. The council granted a conditional use permit for a Days Inn hotel slated for the south side of FM 2920 east of Tomball Cemetery Road in Tomball. Additional details and a construction timeline have not yet been released.

3. The council approved the rezoning of approximately one acre of land near Medical Complex Drive and School Street for the construction of Village Green, a 16-bedroom memory care facility. The facility has existing locations in Conroe and Cypress. A construction start has not been released.

4. The council will hold public hearings on the proposed tax rate for fiscal year 2017-18 on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2 as the proposed tax rate of 34.1455 cents per $100 valuation will bring in more revenue than FY 2016-17 budget, city officials said.
