Plans for the Tomball Texas Railroading Heritage Museum are moving forward following approval of a master plan during the Jan. 16 Tomball City Council meeting.
Located adjacent to the BNSF railway near Elm Street downtown, the museum will feature two locomotives, multiple passenger cars and additional freight equipment and memorabilia, as well as an area for special events and exhibits. A contract between the city and the Gulf Coast Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society was approved in June 2015. Museum officials said the master plan approval will allow them to begin fundraising efforts and working with potential investors. Costs for Phase 1 of the museum are estimated at $2.2 million..An estimated opening date has not yet been announced.
