The Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber changed its name to the Southwest Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce to better represent the area, President Laurie Clifton said.

The Southwest Montgomery County Chamber hosts a variety of events each month designed to help business leaders connect, collaborate and stay informed, Clifton said.

Along with the name change, parts of the operation has also expanded. Clifton said the chamber now has a wider regional reach serving all of Southwest Montgomery County; increased capacity to advocate for business needs tied to infrastructure, development and public policy; and a stronger networking and collaboration platform for businesses of all sizes, while continuing the mission of fostering a thriving, relationship-driven business environment.

Clifton said the chamber has seen a variety of names, including:
  • In 1983: Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce
  • In 2012: Greater Magnolia Chamber of Commerce
  • In 2017: Through the merger of the Greater Magnolia Area Chamber and the Magnolia Parkway Chamber, the name was changed to the Greater Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce
