Magnolia Flower Patch and Boutique, brought to the area by mother-and-son duo Brett and Theresa Sims, opened in January 2021 to offer the community a local flower shop.

Brett Sims said that while he manages the community aspect of the business as a local contributing member of the Magnolia area, his mother, Theresa Sims, also a Magnolia resident, brings years of experience as a florist and designer.

Staying local

Magnolia Flower Patch and Boutique is a family-owned full-service florist and gift shop that offers a variety of floral arrangement services.

Brett Sims, who serves as part of local entities, such as the Magnolia Economic Development 4B Corp. and the nonprofit Society of Samaritans, said the flower shop also focuses on providing flower arrangement needs to community nonprofits.

Brett Sims said Magnolia Flower Patch and Boutique also offers a meeting space in its flower patch for community organizations to hold meetings.

Respecting the craft

Magnolia Flower Patch and Boutique offers a variety of flower arrangements organized by occasion on the website. From centerpieces and bouquets to freshly wrapped flowers, the flower shop caters to each individual's needs for events that include weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties and funerals.

While there are hundreds of flowers to choose from, Magnolia Flower Patch and Boutique also accepts specific flower requests in the event the shop doesn't carry the desired blooms.

Brett Sims said Magnolia Flower Patch and Boutique also carries specialty roses, including double heart roses and other roses sourced from local growers. The boutique adds an emphasis to the creativity of its flower arrangements by offering a variety of high-end vases that can be reused.

The flower shop also offers gifts, including baby gifts, candles, scented soaps and soy candles.

“You choose to go somewhere because of the people,” Brett Sims said. “So for me, it's the people and it's our team that we have here and the community support that provides that kind of unique experience.”
