Tomball Yard Greetings owner Leslie Johnson said that in a typical month, she receives roughly 65 orders for greeting signs. However, in the past few weeks, she has seen a spike in orders as community members look for ways to celebrate amid social distancing measures implemented to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.

“In the past two weeks, I have taken about 40 orders that are mostly for right now,” she said.

Johnson’s company provides rental greeting signs made out of coroplast, a type of corrugated plastic, which are then set up in people's lawns or in front of schools or businesses.

Johnson said with the restrictions put in place closing schools, restaurants and businesses due to the coronavirus outbreak, people are calling her more.

“I am fielding at least 10 to 15 calls a day,” she said. “We are seeing a lot of parents calling for school-age children right now.”

Johnson said most of her customers are calling about signs for birthdays or other parties, as most have had to be canceled due to the recently implemented restrictions.

“People are trying to do something different,” she said. “We’ve had a lot of people telling us that they are going to be having a parade, and they want the sign in their yard, and their friends are going to drive by and wave at them.”

Johnson said there have also been requests recently from customers to have signs turned in to face someone's house instead of the road, as people are staying inside.

A booking request can be made either by emailing [email protected] or calling 832-405-9122. Greetings last for 24 hours but can be extended upon request.
