After years of operation at its main Tomball facility, TOMAGWA Health Care Ministries has found a new home for its first permanent Magnolia location.

TOMAGWA’s Magnolia clinic will be located on the second floor of the Landmark Building on FM 1488. Construction on the 2,500-square-foot clinic will begin in November and a grand opening is slated for March, said Steven Lightfoot, senior director of development and spiritual care for TOMAGWA.

“It will be very similar to the Tomball location, although a little smaller,” Lightfoot said. “It will have three exam rooms … [and] it won’t have dental at the grand opening, but that may come later—maybe in 2018 or so.”

The family practice clinic has worked for nearly 30 years to provide low-cost, comprehensive care to individuals in Tomball, Magnolia and Waller who are uninsured or unable to pay for medical care.

Lightfoot said the organization has operated a satellite clinic one day a week at Magnolia’s First Baptist Church but has been planning for a full-time clinic for years.

Lightfoot said TOMAGWA is funded through community contributions.

“Everything we do in Tomball and Magnolia, and even in Waller, is community-funded,” Lightfoot said. “We don’t get any government funding [and] we don’t take any kind of health insurance. Everything we do is funded by the communities that we serve through donations.”

Lightfoot said TOMAGWA also works with a number of organizations already in the Landmark Building. The clinic projects to serve more than 2,500 patients in its first year.

“We’re very blessed to be in that location,” he said.  “We have a lot of community partners [and] collaborative partners there, so it’ll make things very convenient for our patients.”
