With wedding season, graduation parties, and proms all happening in the same few months, summer can be a busy time for families and event venues. To make planning easier, Sans Souci Ballroom owner Abdee Sharifan said his business aims to provide everything needed for a special day under one roof.

Sans Souci even translates from French to mean “without worry” or “carefree.” Sharifan said the venue works with customers to accommodate their budgets and wish lists. He said he opened the business in early 2015 after six years as owner of Enchanted Cypress Ballroom on Louetta Road.

“I’ve been in the hospitality business all my life,” Sharifan said. “We can host pretty much everything from corporate events and meetings to anniversaries and Christmas parties. We also do a lot of high school proms and, of course, weddings.”

The venue features an outdoor gazebo for wedding ceremonies and a ballroom with a lighted dance floor, three large LED TVs, seating, a sound system and two bar areas. Sharifan said he plans to expand on the venue’s outdoor amenities to allow guests to spend more time outside as well.

“We have talked to some people [who] have told us they want to do their entire event out there,” he said. “We don’t want to do that yet because we don’t have bathroom facilities out there yet. But we are getting requests for that, so we may have to build something in the back of the property.”

Sharifan said the venue’s interior decor and lighting can be easily customized for different style preferences and events.

“We have over 30 absolutely gorgeous chandeliers,” he said. “We can change the color of the chandelier to the color of your theme. And as far as I know, we have the largest chandelier in the state of Texas in our front entrance.”

Sans Souci offers everything needed for an event in-house, Sharifan said. Wedding packages range from $25,000-$32,500 on weekends and include wait staff, equipment, food, beverage service, DJ, security catering, valet service, linens and decorations. The venue also has an in-house chef and works with local bakery Cake Houston for custom cakes and tastings.

“We can pretty much custom- make any package,” he said.

Sharifan said the venue can accommodate 700 people for an event, and customers should book well in advance for a specific date.

“If they’re very much set on the date, [clients should] book as early as possible,” he said. “I tell people that there are 365 days in the year, but there’s only one day in the entire year that you’re searching for your event to take place.”
