The Texas Renaissance Festival is returning for its 49th season this fall. Officials announced in an Aug. 3 news release that opening weekend, Oct. 7-8, will offer the lowest prices of the season with a Queen's Birthday celebration theme.

According to the release, discounted prices include $17 tickets on Saturday, $12 tickets on Sunday, free admission for children 12 and under, special vendor pricing, and giveaways for visitors.

The Texas Renaissance Festival is the largest food, entertainment and Renaissance magic festival in the country, drawing more than half a million guests annually, officials said.

This year's Queen Birthday celebration will offer new opening events and entertainment never done before, the release states.

In addition to discounted ticket prices, there will also be vendor-discounted drinks, food, apparel, collectible swag and half-off turkey legs while supplies last. The opening weekend theme will include birthday parties, cake, live entertainment, dancing, scavenger hunts, fireworks, prizes, raffles, and special deals on games and rides, according to the release.

Tickets for the Texas Renaissance Festival, which takes place Oct. 7-Nov. 26 over eight themed weekends at 21778 FM 1774, Todd Mission, are available for advance online purchase.

Visitors can also register for stay and play packages that include camping passes for Thursday through Monday, and festival admission for Saturday and Sunday, according to the release. There are 200 acres of camping facilities for customers who plan to spend the weekend at the Renaissance Festival. However, due to space limitations, advance ticket purchases are encouraged.
