The city of Tomball hosts its 3rd annual Texas Music Festival on Saturday at the Tomball Historic Depot, located at 201 S. Elm St., Tomball. The festival begins at 11:30 a.m. and features food, vendors, a kids zone and live music. Artists include Shay Domann, Darbi Shaun, Mike Amabile and former “Nashville Star” contestant John Arthur Martinez. Admission and parking are free. 281-351-5484. www.tomballtx.gov
“This is the first of the city signature events for the fall,” Tomball Director of Marketing Mike Baxter said. “It’s just as good as in past years and we’re looking forward to putting it on.”
Bluegrass Rising presents a Northwest Houston jam session at Kleb Woods Nature Preserve, located at 20303 Draper Road, Tomball, noon-4 p.m. Saturday. The monthly bluegrass and old time country music jam event is held inside the nature center, and all bluegrass pickers are welcome to participate. McCardell’s Tavern & Grille hosts its grand opening celebration from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 24504 Kuykendahl Road, Ste. 900, Tomball. The family-friendly celebration features live music, giveaways, all day Happy Hour, food specials, a live auction and raffles. Former Houston Texans Wade Smith and cheerleaders from the Houston Texans will be present. Live music includes Michael Bowen, Brian Sacco, Presley Lewis and Nervous Rex. A $10 donation to the Wade Smith Foundation is suggested for admission.

Magnolia-based nonprofit Boots for Troops hosts its Miss Boots for Troops Live Auction Runway fundraiser Saturday at the Flying Pug Sports Pub, located at 592 Sawdust Road, The Woodlands. The free event runs from 3 p.m.-2 a.m. and features a live auction and live entertainment with a red carpet arrival. Combat boots worn by members of the military will be up for bid. Each pair of boots is accompanied by the story of the individuals who wore them.
“All of these combat boots have been around the world, done various jobs, tough tasks and seen a thing or two, so we’re putting those up for live auction with a really cool story with them,” said Lindsey Rogers, director of operations at Boots for Troops. “For the highest bidder, we’re putting [the boots] in a shadow box with a framed story and picture of [the] service member [who wore the boots]. It’s something for the community to come out and experience something different.”
Live entertainment includes Jeff Canada and The Boys, a magician, a stilt walker, and more.
