Due to oversaturated ground and forecasts for more rain over the weekend, the city of Tomball has canceled this weekend’s 5th annual Tomball Honky Tonk Music Festival scheduled for June 4.
“Weeks of flooding rains and predictions for more of the same over the weekend make staging the outdoor event an impossibility,” said Mike Baxter, director of marketing and tourism, in a statement.
This is the third city-sponsored event to be canceled due to inclement weather. The Rails & Tail Mudbug Festival in April and the Memorial Day Weekend Chili Cookoff in May were both preemptively canceled due to forecasts for rain.
None of this year’s canceled events are expected to be rescheduled. The city is still planning to host the annual July 4th Celebration and Street Festival next month, Baxter said.
