Four two-year seats are available on The Woodlands Township board of directors in the Nov. 3 election, and filing began July 18 for prospective candidates.

The available Positions 1, 2, 3 and 4 are currently held, respectively, by Gordy Bunch, chair; Jason Nelson, who was appointed to the seat earlier this year; John Anthony Brown, treasurer; and Bruce Rieser, vice chair.

The filing period runs through 5 p.m. Aug. 17, and the deadline for filing a declaration of a write-in candidacy is 5 p.m. Aug. 21, according to the township.

Although township offices are currently closed to the public, a secure drop box is available at the Town Hall office building. Appllications can also be mailed to the office, marked Attention: Elections, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., The Woodlands, TX 77381. A fax can also be submitted to 281-210-3978 during the filing period.

In order to file for candidacy, an individual must be 18 as of Nov. 3, a resident of The Woodlands Township for at least the past six months, a resident of Texas for the past 12 months and a U.S. citizen.



Two disqualifying factors are listed as mental incompetence and conviction of felony.

The last day to register to vote is Oct. 5, and the first day of early voting is Oct. 19.
