Following the candidacy filing period that ended Dec. 11, three candidates are vying for the position of Montgomery County Judge, according to the
Texas Secretary of State.
State Rep. Mark Keough, R-The Woodlands, and Jay Stittleburg-D are both challenging incumbent Craig Doyal in the 2018 primary election, scheduled for March 6.
Doyal was first elected to the position in 2014 and is a Montgomery County native, former small business owner and graduate of Texas A&M University.
Challenger Keough, who was first elected to the District 15 seat in the House of Representatives in 2014, also serves as a senior pastor of The Woodlands Bible Church in The Woodlands.
Challenger Stittleburg spent over 15 years in the United States Navy and worked as a project manager in the oil and gas business.
