Updated 10:15 p.m. According to unofficial voting results and with all 49 precincts reporting, incumbent John McMullan has won the race for The Woodlands Township board Position 5, defeating Amos McDonald and Tom Sadlowski. McMullan has held Position 5 on the Township board since 2013. McMullan garnered 7,502 votes, or 63.9% percent, while McDonald earned 3,390 votes or 28.9 percent, and Sadlowski earned 845 votes or 7.2 percent. Township board positions carry two-year terms. McMullan is a shareholder in the global energy and infrastructure group of international law firm Greenberg Traurig. His campaign focused on preparing The Woodlands for incorporation and ensuring that Montgomery County better maintains roads and addresses mobility needs. "I'm looking forward to being an advocate for residents,"McMullan said. "If the interests of residents aren't aligned with the politically well connected, than I will forcefully advocate for those residents." McMullan said he would like to continue his position on The Township board by making sure the road to incorporation is paved and seeing what the new Township board can accomplish. "We need to continue our plans for incorporation, and we also have some different board members now," he said. "I think the board will be going in a new direction."
