A project to widen Kuykendahl Road from two to four lanes from Lake Woodlands to Research Forest drives is underway, according to Montgomery County Precinct 3 officials. A new bridge will be constructed over Bear Branch to accommodate the northbound lanes, and the existing two lanes will become southbound lanes. As of mid-April, contractors had cleared 1.5 miles for the new northbound lane and bridge, and work had commenced on a temporary ditch on the northeast side of the project. Work on pilings for the new bridge was also planned in late April.
