The total closure of Rayford Road at Geneva Drive has been rescheduled to the weekend of Dec. 14-17, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack announced in a news release Dec. 6.

The closure was originally scheduled to begin Dec. 7 at 10 p.m. and reopen Dec. 10 at 5 a.m., as part of the ongoing Rayford Road expansion project. The closure was rescheduled due to anticipated inclement weather, according to the release.

The closure is now scheduled to begin Dec. 14 at 10 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. on Dec. 17.

As part of the ongoing Rayford Road expansion project, the closure is required for construction crews to install large junction boxes and box culverts across Rayford Road, connecting drainage from the north side of Rayford Road to the new Spring Creek outfall, according to the release.

According to the release, eastbound motorists will be diverted north to Richards and Hanna roads, while westbound traffic will be diverted north to Imperial Oaks Drive and Robinson Road.

Additionally, local access will be provided to businesses along Rayford Road, and law enforcement officers will be stationed at the intersections of Richards Road and Imperial Oaks Drive as well as Hanna and Robinson roads to help direct traffic.
