The Woodlands Township announced the closure of Harper's Landing Pool on July 1.

In a June 30 statement, the township said staffing shortages and training challenges related to COVID-19 prompted the closure.

While no lifeguards at the Harper's Landing facility have tested positive for the disease, the township said that recent positive tests in lifeguards throughout its pool system reduced the number of staff available to operate the facility.

The pool may reopen this summer if staff recover and are cleared from their current quarantine protocols to return to work, the township said.

Six township pools remain open throughout the week. Bear Branch and Wendtwoods pools operate Mon.-Fri. 2-8 p.m. and Sat.-Sun. noon-6 p.m., while Alden Bridge, Creekwood, Forestgate and Sawmill pools will be open noon-6 p.m. every day.

If more employees in the township pool system test positive for COVID-19 and force further staffing shortages, the township said additional pools may be closed this summer.
