After nearly two years of closure following Hurricane Harvey, the Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center reopened Aug. 3. The center, located at 1300 Riley Fuzzel Road, was fully renovated after flooding.
Approximately 4 feet of water flooded the Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center during Hurricane Harvey in August 2017, causing major damage to the 11,000-square-foot facility, which includes a nature center and previously housed a Sheriff’s Patrol District 2 office. As a result of the renovation, it now also includes a community center that is available for residents to use. Nearby trails remained open during the two-year closure.
The complex originally opened in 2010 on a 11.6-acre site donated by the Spring Trails master-planned community and provides educational material about the wildlife and nature in south Montgomery County.
