At an annual off-season robotics meet, two College Park High School robotics teams collected and donated bedding and pillow sets for Angel Reach, a nonprofit organization based in Conroe, according to a Sept. 30 news release from the teams.

The overview

Two of College Park High School’s award-winning robotics teams—Texas Torque (FRC 1477) and Turbo Torque (FRC 7492)–competed and collected bedding at the Remix, a robotics competition held in The Woodlands on Sept. 13 and 14.

The competition brought together more than 40 teams across Texas and Mexico, according to the release. In addition to competing, the two teams from College Park High School organized a community drive to collect bedding for Angel Reach, a local nonprofit focused on supporting foster kids who have aged out of the system.

The details

The Torque teams raised 21 sets of bedding and 21 pillow sets for Angel Reach. Each person enrolled in the organization’s housing program receives their own bedding set, which is intended to install a sense of belonging as they start living independently, according to a news release.

“Huge shoutout to the College Park High School Robotics Team for going above and beyond in collecting bedding and pillows for our youth in housing,” volunteer engagement coordinator at Angel Reach, Bonnie Atkinson, said in a news release. “This wonderful collection is such a gift for our youth–thanks for helping make our youth feel at home.”
