Montgomery County has a variety of volunteer opportunities available this season, ranging from food drives to gift donations. Here are a few to take part in over the holidays.

Holiday Giving by Interfaith of The Woodlands

This holiday season Interfaith of The Woodlands plans to serve more than 5,000 individuals. Volunteer opportunities include adopting a family, adopting a senior citizen and donating toys and food. Although toy donations will only be accepted until Dec. 8, food donations can be dropped off at Interfaith from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. 36th annual ABC-13 Share Your Holidays Food and Fund Drive
Dec. 9

Montgomery County Food Bank is participating in this food drive that will take place at five locations throughout Montgomery County. Each location will accept non-perishable food items as well as monetary donations. Local bands and choirs will also be performing holiday favorites at each location. Locations include Market Street in The Woodlands, the Montgomery County Courthouse in Conroe, Kroger in Kingwood, Kroger in Willis and Brookshire Brothers in Magnolia. Stockings for Seniors

Meals on Wheels Montgomery County is helping bring joy to senior citizens this holiday season. Volunteers are encouraged to donate items individually or assembled into stockings or gift bags. Creativity is encouraged, and all cards and decorations must be nondenominational. Each gift should include two toiletries, two treats, such as an activity book, calendar or coffee mug, and two food items. Donations should be dropped off by Dec. 16 between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. in the lobby of the Meals on Wheels administrative office at 1202 Candy Cane Lane, Conroe. Salvation Army Christmas Assistance

The Salvation Army has a variety of volunteer opportunities to take part in this holiday season. Volunteers are needed for the Red Kettle campaign as bell ringers at the Conroe location. The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program is also ongoing at the Conroe location, through which disadvantaged children and seniors in the community are able to receive donated gifts. Companies, churches and schools are invited to adopt families by hosting an Angel Tree at their location.
