CHI St. Luke’s Health-The Woodlands Hospital has become the first hospital in the Greater Houston area to adopt the da Vinci XI Surgical System with integrated table motion technology.
According to hospital officials, the system combines the latest robotic-assisted surgical system and an advanced integrated table motion, which moves simultaneously with the surgeon’s robotic arm movements. The table is positioned so gravity exposes anatomy during procedures.
Dr. Mark Johnson, general surgeon at CHI St. Luke’s Health, said the new surgical technology helps surgeons manage difficult procedures.
“We’re excited to have the latest da Vinci robot with all the bells and whistles to help manage our complex surgical cases with the utmost intricate coordination,” Johnson said. “This is a win for The Woodlands community to receive such high-level care closer to home. Having this technology will help meet the needs of our patients and physicians.”
Aside from providing surgeons easier access to target anatomy, the system also repositions the table during the procedure to enhance an anesthesiologist’s care of the patient.
