Officials with The Club at Carlton Woods have announced four major golf events for 2018, beginning with The
AJGA Simplify. Boys Championship to be held over Presidents Day weekend, Feb. 16-19.
Several past winners of the event have gone on to compete on the PGA Tour, including Jordan Spieth and Ricky Fowler, according to a release.
Events scheduled for later this year include:
• The 13th annual Carlton Woods Invitational will be held May 1-3 and is an established event among the nation’s top mid-amateur and senior amateur events.
• The Sept. 16
Drive, Chip & Putt qualifier features age-group winners who will advance to the national finals in Augusta, Georgia, prior to the 2019 Masters Tournament.
• The Jim West Challenge, the annual season-opening invitational for female collegiates, will also return to Carlton Woods for the third time in September.
“We’re honored to host all four of these events, which together serve amateur players of all ages across Greater Houston, the state of Texas and the entire country,” Carlton Woods General Manager Steve Salzman said in a statement. “Part of this ambitious tournament schedule is due to the fact that we have 36 championship holes here, a Tom Fazio course and another designed by Jack Nicklaus. From a practical standpoint, the infrastructure here allows events to take place without undue inconvenience to our members."
