Important Things to Know before Enrolling

  1. What you pay for insurance depends on your income. You can enter in your expected income online for your year of coverage and find out if you qualify for a tax credit that will lower your monthly insurance bill.

  2. All plans cover essential health benefits including hospitalization, emergency services and prescription drugs; pre-existing conditions; and preventative care.

  3. In 2016, if you don’t have insurance, you will have to pay a penalty of either 2.5 percent of your income or $695 per adult (whichever is higher). The fee for 2017 will be adjusted for inflation.

  4. You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period due to a major life event including losing health coverage, getting married or having a baby.
