As of Dec. 26, filing is open in The Woodlands Township for more than 100 positions that will be up for election Feb. 15 on the Residential Design Review Committees and Village Associations in The Woodlands.

What you need to know

Filing began at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 26 and concludes at 5 p.m. Jan. 16.

Filing forms can be obtained in the following ways:

• Online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/februaryelection
• From Village Association presidents
• At The Woodlands Township Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To file for a position, individuals must be

• Residents or property owners
• Age 18 and older

Positions may require residency or property ownership in specific villages.

How it works

The five-member RDRCs serve one-year terms and facilitate property improvements in the community. Members dedicate several hours each month to review applications for property improvements to maintain design standards.

The village associations are civic associations that facilitate village activities. Officer duties may vary by village and position, according to the township.

At the polls

Voting takes place at The Woodlands Township Town Hall, located at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., The Woodlands.

Early voting takes place from Feb. 10-14 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and regular election day hours Feb. 15 are 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Those who do not file before the deadline can file as a write-in candidate before 5 p.m. Jan. 22.

Any RDRC or Village Association election that does not have a contested race by 5 p.m. Jan. 22 will be canceled, and the vacancy will be filled per the entity's bylaws, according to the township.
