A special session of the Montgomery County Commissioners Court has been scheduled for Aug. 1 to discuss the preliminary fiscal year 2023-24 budget and tax rate plan as well as considering implementing a countywide burn ban.

What’s happening

With budget workshops scheduled to begin Aug. 8, Montgomery County commissioners will vote on a tax rate proposal to base the FY 2023-24 budget around. This will be followed by an overview of the updated preliminary budget in court.

Also on the agenda

With heat indexes causing dry weather conditions, the court will also discuss putting a countywide burn ban in effect. The ban would last for 30 days unless extended by the court at a later date.

The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at the Alan B. Sadler building, 501 N. Thompson St., Conroe. The meeting will also be livestreamed on the county website.
