This is higher than the no-new-revenue tax rate of $0.2169 per $100, which would raise the same amount of revenue for the township as the previous fiscal year.
The fiscal year runs from January to December in The Woodlands.
Under the approved budget, revenues in the township in 2022 will be $132.8 million, and expenditures will be $132.34 million, according to information from the township.
The tax rate is also the same as the maximum initial tax rate proposed in the Nov. 2 incorporation election, which will ask voters whether they want The Woodlands to become a city.
The budget includes a 3% raise for township employees, which required moving $300,000 from the fund balance into the budget, officials said at a previous meting.
In a financial report for the year to date presented at the Aug. 25 meeting, Monique Sharp, the township's assistant general manager for finance and administration, said the township is trending upward in revenue with total revenue $1.45 million above the budgeted amount for the year to date through the end of July.
