Following in the steps of its July 4 plan to offer fireworks as a drive-in event instead of a community celebration, The Woodlands Township will have a drive-in display for Labor Day on Sept. 6, according to a township news release.

A seven-minute display will be launched from a site at the northeast corner of Lake Robbins and Six Pines drives at 8:55 p.m. and streamed on the township's Facebook page and the Visit the Woodlands Facebook page. Parking areas designated for the event include The Woodlands Mall, Market Street and the Gold Lot at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

Spectators must remain in or around their vehicles, and tailgating, tents, tables and glass containers are prohibited, according to the township. However, attendees are encouraged to order to-go food from local restaurants, the release states.

The drive-in events are necessary because of COVID-19 restrictions, according to the news release.

The event is provided by The Woodlands Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored by the Howard Hughes Corp.
