UPDATED: Montgomery County orders shelter-in-place for Alden Bridge senior-living facility; third death reported

Montgomery County Public Health District announced two men who resided at The Conservatory at Alden Bridge died as a result of coronavirus complications April 1. A news release from MCPHD and the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management stated one of the men was in his 90s and one was in his 80s.

Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough issued an immediate shelter-in-place order for an independent-living senior apartment complex where there has been a coronavirus diagnosis, according to a news release from Montgomery County Health District.

The order for The Conservatory at Alden Bridge, located a 6203 Alden Bridge Drive, The Woodlands, requires that no individuals enter or leave the facility or units within the facility until April 13. Essential personnel such a maintenance, medical personnel and law enforcement are except from the order.

The order specifies that residents may leave to stay in another household until 6 p.m. March 31, but all of those living within the household where the resident relocates must also self-isolate until April 13.

The facility is for individuals age 55 and older, and it is not a nursing home or assisted-living facility, according to the release.

Although the number of individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 at the facility was not disclosed by the county or by the facility, the Montgomery County Coronavirus Response Hub lists the ZIP code where the facility is located, 77382, as the highest concentration of confirmed cases in the county, with 24 confirmed as of March 30. One confirmed case in that ZIP code had recovered, and no deaths were reported, according to Montgomery County.

According to the county news release, since an individual was first diagnosed at the facility, all communal dining and recreational activities were ceased, and residents were asked to stay in their apartments.

As of March 30, Montgomery County has reported a total of 81 confirmed cases of the coronavirus.
