Holiday light displays on The Woodlands Waterway will see their final weekend for the season, and the Ice Rink will also still be open Jan. 2-4. Here's a look at some things to do in The Woodlands area this weekend. This listing is not comprehensive, and events are subject to change.

Giving Machines

The seasonal vending machines allow residents to donate to area nonprofits. The machines are part of The Church of Latter-day Saints’ “Light the World” initiative, according to a news release. The Woodlands machines opened on Dec. 17 and will be operational through Jan. 3.Holiday on the Waterway

The last weekend of the holiday lights display will wrap up on Jan. 4.Dosey Doe-The Big Barn

Performances this weekend include Luke Prater on Jan. 2, Six Gun Sound on Jan. 3 and Sarah Kelly Music School Showcase on Jan. 4.The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center


The 21,000-square-foot multipurpose facility features ice skating and concessions. Admission includes two hours of skate time, and attendees can rent a helmet and walkers at an additional cost. The Ice Rink is open through Jan. 19, including this weekend.

Backyard Composting Class

Montgomery County Master Gardeners will present research-based learning during a hands-on outdoor class, and attendees can learn how to turn everyday items like dry leaves, yard trimmings and kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich compost. Registration is not needed, according to information on The Woodlands Township website.
