A free U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus concert hosted by The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion will take place at Woodlands Church Oct. 22, according to a Pavilion news release.

Doors open for the free concert at 6 p.m. and the event is at 7 p.m. The U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus of Washington, D.C. will present “America the Beautiful,” including musical and visual elements to honor the veterans of every generation, according to the news release.

Some context

Founded in 1946 and 1957, respectively, the Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus are the oldest and largest of the U.S. Army Field Band’s performing components and have performed in all 50 states as well as 30 other countries, according to the news release.


The Concert Band consists of 60 members, while the chorus includes 29, and the ensembles play music ranging from orchestral works and operatic arias to Sousa marches, jazz and Broadway compositions, according to the Pavilion news release.
