The Woodlands' 50th anniversary concert featuring Lyle Lovett and his Large Band will also spotlight The Woodlands native Jack Ingram, Howard Hughes announced on Aug. 12.

The free community concert is planned for Oct. 18 at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Ingram will be the opening act, followed by singer-songwriter Hayes Carll, a native of The Woodlands, according to the news release.

The event is one of several planned in mid-October celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Woodlands community.

The background

Ingram, a Grammy-nominated country music artist, had his first hit in 2005 with the single "Wherever You Are," according to a news release from Howard Hughes. It was also a No. 1 hit on the Billboard country charts. He won Song of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2018 for the song "Tin Man" and was also nominated for the Best Country Song of the Year at the Grammys, according to the release.

Registration for priority access to the event can be obtained here. Tickets will also be available in September for free based on availability. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the concert will being at 7:15 on Oct. 18 at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands.
