The Woodlands Township will host its Veterans Day tribute to honor men and women who have served in the nation’s military. A poetry reading and art exhibit will also be held in conjunction with Veterans Day. Check out these five things to do this weekend, Nov. 9-12, in The Woodlands area.

Spruce Market shopping event

The Spruce Market at The Woodlands Resort is holding a holiday shopping event with items from small businesses, artisans and designers from The Woodlands area, Houston and Texas, including honey harvested from hives located at The Woodlands Resort. SMENES jewelry, Honey & B Candle Co., Monarca Boutique and FlorVino Flower Wine are among the vendors expected at the event.Veterans Day poetry reading and art reception

Ardest Gallery is holding a poetry reading by Marine veteran Brandon Dillon in advance of an opening reception at the gallery for SALUTE, a show featuring works by 30 Texas artists who are veterans. The poetry reading will include selections from Dillon's book "Ramblings of a Mad Man," and a Q&A will be held afterward. Books will be available for purchase.

Out of the Darkness Walk

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is hosting an Out of the Darkness Walk to unite community members and provide knowledge on suicide and the importance of mental health. During this event, there will also be a special Veterans Day ceremony to commemorate the day.

Veterans Day tribute


The Woodlands Township is hosting its Veterans Day tribute to honor the men and women who have served in the nation’s military. This event features live music, speakers, a presentation of colors, children's activities and the "My Hero Exhibit." A special military care package donation booth will also be set up during the Veterans Day Tribute.Annual Chili Cook-off

Knights of Columbus hold the annual event to benefit The American Wheelchair Mission. The event includes family entertainment, a car show and raffles.
