The period for candidates to file an intention to run for office opened Nov. 8, according to the Texas Secretary of State.
Montgomery County voters will see several local candidates on their ballot as well as candidates running for state office. Here is a list of positions that will be on the ballot in March 2026.

Candidates interested in filing to run in the March primaries must meet different requirements per the position they intend to fill, such as:
- Age
- Citizenship status
- Voter registration status
Those who intend to run for federal office must file a federal application. Applicants can visit the secretary of state’s website to see if their race requires a local or federal filing. Additionally, applicants must pay a filing fee or a petition with signatures of qualified voters.

The last day to register to vote for the March 2026 primary is Feb. 2.
