The Woodlands Township has three contested races on the Nov. 5 ballot. There are two candidates running for Position 4 on the township board of directors to replace outgoing board member Kyle Watson, who did not seek re-election.

Craig Eissler and Jaime Viteri are seeking election to Position 4.

What are the biggest challenges facing The Woodlands Township in the next two years?



Rapid growth leading to public safety and mobility challenges. Strategic economic development to help offset costs and further reduce reliance on property tax revenues.



What amenities would you focus on improving or including in the next two years?



The Woodlands Township provides many different amenities to our residents. It is important to invest in the upkeep of our current amenities before adding additional amenities to the residents. I do think a performing arts center would fit well with The Woodlands community and offer another amenity to create value.



How will you create additional opportunities for growing the township’s tax base in the next two years?



Constantly increasing our tax base with new businesses is important. Robust economic development can help generate additional non-property tax revenues to maintain services without a property tax increase. If we can continue to recruit and retain quality businesses to work here and continue to recruit visitors and conventions/conferences, then …



How will you work with county and state government to advance township initiatives?



I strongly believe the township board should work with county officials to ensure the best possible outcomes for its residents regarding any area of governance. I will work hard with our area partners at the county and state to be a voice and advocate for The Woodlands.

Establish town halls, digital forums and partnerships with local entities. Ensure transparency, accountability and responsive governance through regular updates and feedback systems. Promote smart growth, invest in infrastructure, support local businesses and attract diverse industries. Enhance safety measures, support community policing and expand recreational facilities and cultural programs.



What are the biggest challenges facing The Woodlands Township in the next two years?



The Woodlands challenges include managing rapid growth, improving traffic and transportation, diversifying the economy, enhancing public safety, maintaining transparent community engagement, ensuring environmental sustainability and upgrading aging infrastructure. Addressing these issues will require strategic planning, community involvement and effective management to support long-term development and quality of life.



What amenities would you focus on improving or including in the next two years?



I will focus on upgrading parks and recreation facilities, expanding and modernizing public transportation and enhancing community centers. Additionally, I will improve cultural and arts facilities, maintain green spaces and update infrastructure and public safety facilities to ensure comprehensive community growth and quality of life.



How will you create additional opportunities for growing the township’s tax base in the next two years?



Attract diverse businesses, support local business expansion and encourage smart real estate development. These strategies will enhance economic activity, increase property values and generate additional revenue without raising taxes, ensuring a balanced and sustainable approach to growth.

I will work closely with county and state officials to align our initiatives with regional priorities, securing support and funding. By pursuing targeted grants, advocating for favorable policies, and leveraging state and county resources, I’ll ensure The Woodlands’ projects are effectively advanced and our community’s needs are prioritized.
