Filing for the May 4 general election began Jan. 17 and continues through 5 p.m. Feb. 16, according to the Texas secretary of state's office. In south Montgomery County, municipalities with elections May 4 include the cities of Oak Ridge North and Shenandoah.

What you need to know

In the city of Oak Ridge North, the following two-year, nonpartisan seats are up for election May 4:
  • Mayor
  • Council Place 1
  • Council Place 3
The positions are currently held by Paul Bond, Rick Moffatt and Alex Jones, respectively.

In the city of Shenandoah, the following two-year, nonpartisan seats are up for election May 4:
  • Mayor
  • City Council, Position 1
  • City Council, Position 5
The positions are currently held by John G. Escoto, Ron Raymaker and Michael McLeod, respectively.




Candidates can fill out an application form online, and follow instructions on the city website to deliver it to City Hall.

What else?

In addition to regular filing deadline, there is a 5 p.m. deadline Feb. 20 for candidates filing a declaration of write-in candidacy.

The last day to register to vote in the May 4 election is April 4.




Early voting for the May 4 election begins April 22 and ends April 30.
