With all 111 precincts reporting in Montgomery County, challenger Matt Gray won the Republican primary for Montgomery County Precinct 4 commissioner in the March 1 election. The number of votes was unchanged on March 2 from the previous night, when Gray received 5,960 votes and Metts received 5.303 votes. There is no challenger for the position in the November general election.

With 107 of 111 precincts reporting on election night, challenger Matt Gray had a slight lead over incumbent James Metts in the Republican primary for Montgomery County Precinct 4 commissioner.

Gray has received 52.92%, or 5,960 votes of the votes counted so far, and Metts received 47.08%, or 5,303 votes. There is no Democratic challenger for the position in the November election.

Early voting results show challenger Matt Gray taking an early lead in the Republican race for Montgomery County Precinct 4 commissioner in the March 1 primary election. Early voting results include absentee votes. Gray is up against incumbent James Metts, who is completing his first term in the position.


The winner will be on the ballot in the November general election. No Democrats have filed for the position.

James Metts received 45.46%, or 2,903 votes, and Matt Gray received 54.54%, or 3,483 votes, in early and absentee votes.

As Community Impact Newspaper previously reported, Metts has served one term as commissioner, four terms as Justice of the Peace, and he has had a career in construction. Gray has worked as a project manager in operations and capital projects.
