Lone Star College System has received permission to expand educational opportunities for international students from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
According to a news release from LSCS, LSC will now be able to offer F-1 visa students the opportunity to study at LSC-East Aldine Center, LSC-Houston North Fallbrook and LSC-Westway Park Technology Center. An F-1 visa student is allowed to temporarily live in the United States for a defined period of time while studying at a school or college.
The release states the new authorization allows students to seek Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing, manufacturing and trades management, or applied technology in cybersecurity. LSC offers F-1 visa students the opportunity to study and earn degrees in business; computer/digital technology; energy, manufacturing and construction; health sciences; and public safety.
“Lone Star College welcomed more than 2,600 International students from over 100 countries this fall,” said Katharine Caruso, LSCS associate vice chancellor honors and international education, in the release. “This benefits students from other countries who are interested in receiving a quality education and introduces American students to different cultures and customs.”
