According to a news release, the accreditation process examined the LSCS registered nurse to BSN program from developing and teaching its curriculum to its working with nursing students.
“Lone Star College provided the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing with data to determine whether our program meets their strict standards,” LSC Chancellor Stephen Head said in the release. “They also looked at student progress in completing degrees and the percentage of students who finish.”
The release states accreditation with the ACEN is voluntary but offers students advantages, including additional financial aid opportunities, ease of credit hour transfer and greater access to graduate programs.
"This accreditation ensures that instructors are using appropriate teaching methods, that courses have the proper content and that Lone Star College is meeting the needs of nursing students,” Head said.
