Lone Star College System announced students and faculty affected by Winter Storm Uri will be able to apply for financial assistance to help with recovery efforts.

According to a press release from LSCS, applications for the weather emergency fund will be accepted through Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. Depending on the number of applicants, grants will offer up to $250.

“I know so many of our students and employees suffered unforeseen damage due to the weather,” LSCS Chancellor Stephen C. Head said in the release. “That is why Lone Star College has set

aside auxiliary funds for emergency grants.”

To qualify for assistance, students must be enrolled at least halftime in credit courses or enrolled in a workforce certificate program and affirm they incurred weather-related expenses. LSCS employees are also required to establish they had extra expenses directly related to the cold weather to qualify.

Students and employees are encouraged to check their school email to see if they qualify for assistance.
