Conroe ISD will remain closed through the rest of this week following previous full-day closures and amid ongoing winter weather conditions and related power outages. In a statement, the district said it will work to avoid extending its calendar with any additional school days this year.
"Conroe ISD will be closed on Friday, February 19, to allow our community to recover from the unprecedented cold weather. This will also allow time for the district to assess and address the weather’s impact on our buildings," CISD said in a Feb. 17 statement. "The district will be applying for the missed school day emergency waivers from the Texas Education Agency. We are hopeful that these waivers, in addition to the minutes already built in to the calendar, will prevent any make-up days."

Conroe ISD announced it will remain closed Feb. 17 amid ongoing power outages and winter weather conditions in Montgomery County and across Texas.
"Due to widespread power outages, hazardous road conditions, and the potential for additional inclement weather, Conroe ISD will be closed on Wednesday, February 17. All extracurricular activities scheduled for Wednesday are canceled or will be rescheduled. We are evaluating the situation for the remainder of the week and will make an announcement by noon on Wednesday," the district said in a statement.
Feb. 17 will be the district's fourth straight day with no scheduled activity following planned days off Feb. 12 and 15 for the Presidents' Day holiday and a weather-related closure Feb. 16 that was announced late last week.
More information on CISD closures and other updates may be found on the district's Facebook and Twitter pages.
