Conroe ISD’s newest school, David & Sheree Suchma Elementary School, opened Aug. 14 for the 2019-20 academic year.

The school is named after educators David and Sheree Suchma, who taught in CISD for a combined 71 years and earned four Teacher of the Year awards each during their time with the district.

The approximately 125,000-square-foot school began construction in August 2018 and was funded with around $30 million from the district’s 2015 bond. The school has nearly 60 classrooms including spaces for group work, science and fine arts. The school also has a gym, library, cafeteria and auditorium space, and outdoor playground.

Suchma Elementary opened with more than 80 faculty members and around 900 students from kindergarten through sixth grade.
